I tried the game with both in-game Vsync, as well as Nvidia Vsync + a Rivatuner FPS limit which generally smooths out framepacing, but no dice. The world the game is built around seems great, but I can't enjoy it because of the stutter that occurs when I turn the camera. No biggie, I can refund if I don't like it. So now, all that's left is to wait and see if this patch comes over the weekend as intended and lives up to everyone's expectations. Against my better judgement and the mixed reviews I decided to give the game a shot. Compared to the earlier "mixed" rating, where 43 percent of the 602 reviews were considered positive, 53 percent of the 3,587 reviews are now considered positive, meaning that while the reviews are still considered "mixed" overall, they are starting to lean positive. In light of these impending changes, it looks like fans are willing to give the game a chance - for the time being.
